What IS Sustainability....?!

I read this article a few days ago about sustainability and what it is and what it’s not.  The article forces you to question where you are in the eco-friendly spectrum...In a way it almost makes you feel like you might not be living the sustainable life that you thought you were with its right off the bat list of all the things it is not (some of which are questionable and I must put more thought in to why).  My initial opinion was that as long as you are implementing some sustainable practices you are taking steps in the right direction and those are good first steps.  After reading and re-reading I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe this right off the bat approach is more necessary than thought.  After all, some of us have not yet even taken the first step and sometimes we need a little harshness to drive us to take more initiative to educate ourselves and those around us.  However small or big the changes you make keep making them.  The example will get set and eventually it will become the norm.
So...what is sustainability?  The dictionary’s definition states it is a method of using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged.  The resource we are talking about here is Mother Earth.  So what are you doing to participate in its continuation? Yes, this may mean making some difficult or inconvenient modifications or may mean that you have to spend a little more money on things that are local and not mass produced, but what a small price to pay in comparison to what could be lost if you don’t.  Besides when did life get so complicated anyways? My suggestion to you is to simplify and share.  I urge you to read this article and take a little time for introspection...you never know, it could be life changing and after all everything has a ripple effect whether small or large.
